BoxoFFICE launches with John Luckett

BoxoFFICE, an art space dedicated to contemporary art from the new American frontier, launched this past weekend with a show for John Luckett. The exhibition is entitled Handful of Sky and is comprised of 11 compelling mixed media works. For a full description, with images and John's bio, go to the BoxoFFICE site.

Two receptions were held - on Saturday and Sunday afternoon (March 21 and 22). With the first blushes of Spring apparent, the turnout was great, the atmosphere was warm and the wine was chilled. Friend, family, curators, dealers, collectors and the curious were all present. A toddler came to her first exhibition and a septuagenarian was on hand to lend a critical eye.

After Saturday's opening reception, we had a small dinner for the artist and his friends who had come in from Maine. Sushi Zen boxes all round before the happy exhaustion hit.

Many, many thanks to John Luckett for his work and for traveling from Joshua Tree for installation and the opening. The show is up until May 2 - come by for a refreshing burst of energy from the West.
